First in Flight
Who would have dreamed there could be more in the sky than just birds?
Wilbur and Orville Wright were Ohio based brothers who repaired bicycles and small motors. To neighbors, they initially seemed like average hard-working businessmen. However, their daily work led them to believe the future was full of possibilities — like humans in the sky. They began learning, studying and trying endless methods until they developed sustainable flight.
Their unique three-axis control system makes flight possible and is still a part of aircrafts today, a testament to the quality of their innovation and research even after years of technological development.
Yet not only was their innovation extraordinary, but their determination to not settle for the status quo and be willing to face danger and rejection truly changed the course of human history, paving the way for new travel, transport and business opportunities. In addition, their passion led to a new interest in aviation, and brought future generations into the research and pursuit of refining aviation.

Fun Fact
The brothers flipped a coin to see who would get to be airborne first. Orville won!
However, like all legendary figures, they did not accomplish their goals alone.
By their side was their sister, Katharine Wright, who not only nursed them through job related injuries but also managed fundraising, communications and business matters to help their innovations soar. In addition, she accompanied them to England during their exhibitions.
For the Wright brothers, becoming legendary was a family affair that thrived off community support.
